A vehicle rollover on Hwy. 401 Wednesday sent five women to hospital and closed the westbound collector lanes for more than three hours.

The single-car crash occurred west of Allen Road at about 2:10 p.m.

Ontario Provincial Police said an Acura struck the cement guardrail and then rolled numerous times across three lanes.

A 17-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries. Two other women were taken to Humber River Regional Hospital's Finch site suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries. The remaining two victims were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Traffic in the collector lanes was directed to the express lanes during the police investigation. The closure ended at 5:30 p.m.

Earlier in the afternoon, the westbound collector lanes were closed for about an hour at Keele Street due to a car fire. No one was hurt. The fire erupted at 12:32 p.m.

Witnesses to the rollover are asked to call OPP's Toronto detachment at 416-235-4981.
