Police arrest suspect in unrelated incident

 
 
A man suspected in the killing of a 45-year-old Beach resident has been located following an unrelated street fight near Dundas Street East and Coxwell Avenue.

Police located 44-year-old Joseph King on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at about 7:30 p.m.

King, who sustained non-life threatening injuries in the brawl, has now been formally charged with second-degree murder. He will remain under police guard until released from hospital.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for King's arrest Monday, Aug. 4.

A day earlier, police were called to 17 Edgewood Ave., near Coxwell Avenue and Kingston Road, at about 9:40 a.m. for unknown trouble. There they discovered Andre Paquet with multiple stab wounds to the chest in one of the building's hallways.

He was pronounced dead a short time later at St. Michael's Hospital.

Paquet, who was known to police, is the city's 40th homicide of 2008.
