ANNEX: Second subway shooting suspect arrested
One person still remains at large
A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Spadina subway station in late March.The accused, who is a young offender and cannot be named, was apprehended Sunday, May 11 near the Islington avenue and Duncanwoods Drive area. He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and two counts of assault.
Police also arrested and charged an 18-year-old Mississauga man on Wednesday, May 7. The accused also cannot be named as he was 17 at the time of the March 28 incident. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of assault, discharging a firearm, pointing a firearm, having dangerous weapons, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Emmaunuel Boakye, 20, of no fixed address, is being sought in connection with this incident. A warrant for his arrest is currently outstanding.
Boakye is described as black. He was wearing black jeans with a patch-type logo on the right rear pocket, a black faded Roca Wear jacket with a stylized letter 'R' on the back, a black baseball cap with a white logo on the front and an earring in his left ear.
Police allege the victim and her friend were travelling northbound on the University-Spadina line when an altercation began with three men. One of the suspects reportedly produced a firearm and fired a shot that stuck the victim as the train arrived at Spadina station at about 8:45 p.m. on March 28. The three suspects then fled the scene but were captured on video at the Yonge/Bloor, St. George and Spadina stations.
The victim was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
